Central Market Olivar

Local nameMercat de l'Olivar
LocationPalma, Spain

One of the largest covered markets in Europe. The ground floor houses the market itself and upstairs, you will find a supermarket and a good selection of tapas bars where you can sit and watch the world go by.

The market has a great selection of stalls offering everything from fruit and vegetables to baskets of olives and cheeses. Here, you will also be able to buy some of the freshest fish on the island. There is a selection of meat counters, a plethora of Chorizo (a Spanish spicy sausage) and a variety of Morcilla (a type of black pudding). Here you can also buy legs of cured ham, known as Serrano which is often served thinly sliced with crusty bread.
