Initially built as a mansion for Norwegian general Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve, Charlottenborg Palace is now the base of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and also the Kunsthal Charlottenborg - gallery for contemporary art.

Located in the very heart of Copenhagen, this building draws the eyes of many. It was built in Dutch Baroque style and sold to queen Charlotte Amalie in Ulrik's last years.

The exhibitions display all kinds of modern art, from paintings to sculptures and audio & light shows. The gallery is a frequent venue for various exhibitions and movie screenings.

The palace also has an open courtyard where anyone can come and contemplate their thoughts in silence.

You can get here by metro, station Kongens Nytorv, lines M1 and M2. It's about 5 minutes away from there.
