Towering above the rest of the city landscape, this church offers its visitors one of the greatest views you could wish for. It is also one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. Note the footprint on one of the tiles on the floor. It is said to belong to the Devil himself.
The church's construction dates back to the 15th century. Built in Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles, it replaced an older church that used to stand in its place. Its impressive two towers each stand at the height of nearly 99 meters. Interestingly enough, the southern tower is a few centimetres shorter than the northern one.
The easiest way to get to the church is via public transport. Exit at the Marienplatz stop.
In winter, the Cathedral closes at 8 pm.
Please check the official website for a schedule of the cathedral tours.
Free admission.
