The church was built in the 14th century, probably on the site of a former Romanesque church. Designed in Catalan Gothic style, it boasts beautiful stained-glass windows.
The church was damaged by a fire set up by anticlerical groups in 1936. Most of the windows were destroyed and then replaced by replicas. Four of them remain; these were designed by Josep Ravella, a significant glass artist.
It contains a museum displaying gold and silverware, which also highlights the importance and the history of the church. If you want to visit treasure rooms and museum spaces, book your appointment ahead. You can get here by metro line L3, station Liceu.
