The Flavian Amphitheatre is the largest Roman amphitheater ever built, reaching a height of 48 meters with a capacity of 65,000. Completed around 81–82 AD, the structure is a primary example of ancient Roman architecture. Historically, the venue served as a site for gladiatorial contests, public spectacles, and other large-scale events.

The site is the centerpiece of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo, an archaeological park that also includes the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. The nearby Colosseo metro station (Lines B and C) functions as an "archaeo-station," featuring a museum itinerary with mosaics and archaeological finds discovered during the station's construction.

As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the area hosts various exhibitions and educational programs. The grounds are open to the public, and guided tours are available to provide insight into the historical and archaeological significance of the monument and its surrounding ruins.
