Come to see an extensive collection of an Irish art collector and dealer, Hugh Lane. Housed in a historical house built in 1763, this gallery of modern art was the first public one established in the world.
It now showcases a permanent display of the best of Irish contemporary art, but it is also home to an exquisite collection of French art. Highlights of the exhibition include Renoir's The Umbrellas and Manet's Portrait of Eva Gonzalès.
The gallery is notable for its Francis Bacon Studio that was moved to Dublin in 1998 and which contains entire contents of this Irish painter's studio. There are various lectures and concerts taking place in this establishment. The nearest bus station is Rotunda, lines 1, 11 and 16.
