English Garden

Local nameEnglischer Garten
LocationMunich, Deutschland

Relaxing strolls through a well-maintained greenery? Beer gardens? Or sunbathing naked as a jaybird? If any or all of those things pique your interest, do remember to pay a visit to this famous garden.

Spanning over more than 900 acres (3,7 square kilometers) of land, the English Garden is the largest in Munich. It was created towards the end of the 18th century, based on the design of a British landscape architect Benjamin Johnson - hence the name English Garden.

If you're interested in the garden's more eccentric highlights, you need only to look for the Schönfeldwiese area. This is where you are the most likely to find some nude sunbathers.

For those looking to enjoy a good drink instead, there are four beer gardens altogether. They can be found at the foot of the Chinese Tower, in the Japanese Teahouse, at the Zum Aumeister restaurant, and next to the Kleinhesseloher Lake.
