As the name suggests, this synagogue is the largest Jewish place of worship in Rome, as well as one of the largest synagogues in Europe. There is also a museum in the building, which preserves and exhibits artifacts valuable to the Jewish people and their history.
The museum is organized into 7 rooms, each of which gives space to one specific topic, with the objects on display ranging from casts of ancient tombstones to modern-day photographs.
Due to the synagogue's importance for the Jewish community, it was visited by several popes, including Francis in 2016.
