This major mansion designed by Antoni Gaudí in Modernista style is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gaudí designed the building for his patron, a wealthy industrialist, Eusebi Güell.
Eusebi Güell was a successful entrepreneur who also hired Gaudí to build a housing estate for him. This estate was later given to the city as Park Güell. Palau Güell was built as an extension of the family home on La Rambla.
The palace was built between 1886 and 1890 and it is one of the earliest showcases of Art Nouveau architecture. See how Gaudí works with space and light and note the chimneys that are decorated with 20 different mosaic-covered sculptures.
