This sign is probably the most iconic sight in the whole Los Angeles. Nearly 14 meters tall and 107 meters long, it has featured in so many movies and pop-cultural references, there is barely anyone who hasn't heard of it.
All the more interestingly, the trademark name originally wasn't even meant to be, as the sign first read "Hollywoodland" at the time of its construction in 1923.
If you want to go and see the letters for yourself, be prepared for a long hike. Even if you're going by car or with a tour bus, you will have to leave the vehicle about 60 minutes away from the sign and make your way up the hill by foot. The sign is also surprisingly difficult to see from the lowland, probably due to many buildings standing in the line of sight.
When considering the timing of your visit, keep in mind that the sign is not lit during the night.
There is no cost to visit the Hollywood Sign. For visiting it check the official website.
