This huge stadium was built in order to host the European Football Championship in 2004 and it has a seating capacity of more than 50 000 people. This arena designed by Tomás Taveira is also the home stadium of a multi-sports club Sporting CP (often inaccurately referred to as Sporting Lisbon). The stadium complex, Alvalade XXI, also houses a shopping mall, the football club's museum, and a sports pavilion.
