Korean War Veterans Memorial

Local nameKorean War Veterans Memorial
LocationWashington, United States

This memorial commemorates all the brave men and women who fought or in any other way assisted the war efforts during the Korean War. It was opened to the public in 1995.

It consists of several parts: the Mural Wall, the United Nations Wall, the 19 statues of the soldiers and the Pool of Remembrance. All the parts pay respects to those who took part in the war in some way.

The statues are especially interesting for there are 19 statues and together with their 19 reflections in the granite wall nearby there are 38 of them. The number refers to the 38th parallel which was chosen as a border between the South and North Korea.
