This open-air gallery displays spectacular sculptures. Adjacent to the Uffizi Gallery, the passage consists of wide arches open to the Piazza Signoria.
The first open-air exhibition area in the world was built in the 14th century and, during the 16th century, it served as an expression of the Medici power. A roof garden was added later, from which the Medici family would watch ceremonies in the piazza.
Allow yourself enough time to explore the statues and don't miss the statue of Perseus, a grand bronze statue created by Benvenuto Cellini in 1554. The open-air gallery is always open - that means you can visit it at night when it is nicely illuminated and, more importantly, less crowded.
Free admission.
