LAX is located 18 miles (30 km) southwest of Downtown Los Angeles. It is the 5th busiest airport in the world and 2nd in the United States. As the largest international airport on the West Coast, it serves as a major gateway to the US.
The airport has 9 passenger terminals with a total of 128 gates arranged in the shape of a horseshoe. The terminals are served by a shuttle bus and some of them are connected via underground tunnels. Each terminal offers slightly different services and facilities but the airport is constantly being upgraded and new facilities are appearing.
As it is close to Hollywood, many movies have been shot here. If you have some spare time, see rotating art installations on the Lower/Arrivals Level in Terminal 3 or visit the observation deck in the Theme Building (in front of the airport).
Each terminal has different opening hours, all of them close for the night. Check it on https://www.flylax.com/en/hours-of-operation.
