Located at the Northeastern part of the Capitoline Hill, this prison served to hold the enemies of Rome. It is more than two and half millennia old.
No faithful Catholic should miss the prison. According to rumours, this is where Saint Peter was held, when he was imprisoned by the Romans. He was also killed here, the legend has it. Notice the cross, turned upside down, which is also to be found in the prison. The saint is said to have been tortured to death on a similar cross.
