The small square is overlooked by the neo-Baroque Michaelertor, the entrance gate to Michaelertrakt Wing of the Imperial Palace. It's also home to Michaelerkirche, one of the oldest churches in Vienna. Do not miss the archaeological site in the middle of the square, revealing the medieval remains.
