This monument, designed by Stefano Galletti, is the centrepiece of the Piazza Cavour. It was ceremonially unveiled on September 24, 1895, as a part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of Rome's liberation.
Notice the sculptures at the pedestal of the monument - they are meant to represent powers that were necessary for the unification of Italy.
