MUHBA Plaça del Rei

Local nameMuseu d'Història de la Ciutat
LocationGothic Quarter, Barcelona, Spain

The three-storey building is home to the headquarters of Barcelona City History Museum. Opened in 1943, it allows you to explore the remains the ancient Roman city of Barcino. The museum consists of the archaeological underground and Palau Reial.

In the underground, you will learn about the daily life in Roman times and see the remains of original houses. You will walk past the city walls, streets, factories and a laundry from the 2nd century AD. Part of the underground complex is also devoted to the symbolism and preparation of wine.

Palau Comtal (later Palau Reial) was used as a royal residence and it's worth visiting for the magnificent hall Saló del Tinell and the Chapel of Santa Àgata.
