Narodni Trida

Called National Avenue in English, this is a street where several historically important events took place. On November 17, 1989, the Velvet Revolution was initiated here. This fight against communism is commemorated with a modest plaque displaying raised hands of Czech students who revolted here against the regime. The plaque can be found roughly in the middle of the avenue, under the arches.

Today, this street connecting National Theatre and Wenceslas Square is a popular shopping and dining destination. You can choose from various restaurants and eateries, offering both Czech and international cuisine, or shop in a number of stores lining the street.
