Pedralbes Royal Palace

Local namePalau Reial de Pedralbes
Locationles Corts, Barcelona, Spain

This beautiful palace is situated in a vast garden. It was given to the Royal family in 1918 by a wealthy entrepreneur Eusebi Güell and remodeled between 1919 and 1924 in a Neoclassical style. Although it was turned into a museum during the Spanish Second Republic, it soon served as an official residence once again. Franco used it as his residence as well when the Spanish King fled the country.

The palace is closed to visitors, but the beautiful gardens are open and well worth the visit. Go see the fountain designed by Antoni Gaudí, Font d'Hércules.
