Santa Maria della Pace

Although this church charms passersby by its bold Baroque facade, it is its interior that no lover of Renaissance art should miss. The decorations on the inside walls are all splendid, chief among them, however, is the group of frescoes by Raphael, called the Four Sybils. These can be found on the right side, near the entrance to the church.

The church was built in the 15th century, at the orders of Pope Sixtus IV. Notice the small piazza in front of it - several buildings had to be brought down in order to artificially create it.
