Originally constructed in 1454 in the Masovian brick Gothic style, this Roman Catholic church is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Its architectural evolution incorporates a mix of styles, including a Neoclassical facade designed by Chrystian Piotr Aigner and a lavish high-baroque interior filled with frescoes. Other notable architects involved in its development include Giovanni Battista Gisleni and Tylman van Gameren.
Serving as the main center for academic pastoral care, the church is a hub for student ministry and university chaplaincy programs. In addition to regular religious services, the venue is a site for cultural events, particularly organ recitals. The structure is recognized as a significant cultural heritage monument.
A separate bell tower on the grounds includes a viewing terrace. This vantage point offers panoramic views of the surrounding Old Town and the Vistula River.
