The younger brother of the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I had this church built in order to thank God for saving Emperor Franz Joseph's life after a murder attempt in 1853. The second-tallest church in Vienna is designed in a Neo-Gothic style and is definitely worth visiting both for its grand exterior and neatly decorated interior - marvel at the stained glass windows.
Be sure to visit the museum located inside the church. It is home to many intriguing liturgical and religious objects as well as plans and drafts of the church's original decorations. The highlight of the museum is the "Antwerp Altar".
The museum is currently closed due to renovation.
