Batalha Essentials

Located within the Chapter House of the Monastery of Batalha, this tomb honors unidentified Portuguese soldiers from World War I and is watched over by a permanent guard of honor.

Pelourinho da Batalha

A 16th-century stone pillory featuring Manueline decorative elements. Originally a symbol of local judicial authority, it was reconstructed in its current location near the monastery in the 20th century.
