Architectural Landmarks

Brandenburg Gate

Commissioned by King Frederick William II and completed in 1791, this neoclassical triumphal arch was designed by Carl Gotthard Langhans. Modeled after the Propylaea in Athens, the monument is topped by the Quadriga, a sculpture of the goddess of victory in a four-horse chariot.
