Coastal Gems

Alicante's coastline features the Explanada de España, a promenade paved with 6.5 million marble tiles arranged in a wave pattern. Nearby, El Postiguet Beach sits at the base of Santa Bárbara Castle, while the expansive San Juan Beach offers several kilometers of Blue Flag sands. Further south, Playa del Saladar provides a quieter environment with preserved dune systems. Off the coast, the 19th-century Faro de Tabarca marks the eastern end of Spain's first Mediterranean marine reserve.

Faro de Tabarca

This 19th-century neoclassical lighthouse, inaugurated in 1854, stands on the eastern end of Tabarca Island. It historically served as a school for lighthouse keepers and marks the location of dangerous rocky islets within the marine reserve.

Playa del Saladar

Located in the Urbanova district at the southern end of the city, this 1.6-kilometer sandy beach features a quiet promenade and areas of preserved coastal dunes.
