Gijón’s coastline features a mix of expansive urban sands and secluded coves flanked by the Cantabrian Sea. The central San Lorenzo beach defines the city's waterfront, while the western Poniente and Arbeyal beaches offer calm, reclaimed harbor waters. To the east, the landscape transitions into rugged cliffs and natural tidal pools at Estaño and La Ñora. Located at the eastern end of the city's promenade, this beach consists of sand and rock. It includes a designated pet-friendly area and serves as the starting point for the coastal path toward La Ñora.
