Viewpoints and Towers

Hessen’s landscape is defined by diverse elevations, featuring medieval watchtowers, modern radar installations, and natural volcanic peaks. This collection spans the Odenwald, Rhön, and Taunus ranges, offering historic sites like the 14th-century Hampescher Turm and architectural landmarks like the Bismarckturm Schotten. Visitors can observe the basalt fields of Schafstein, the air traffic infrastructure at Neunkircher Höhe, or the aviation activity at the Frankfurt Airport Airlift Memorial. These sites provide vantage points for bird watching, surveying historical city walls, and viewing the regional topography.
