This collection features the diverse aquatic landscapes of the Kashmir region, from the iconic urban houseboats of Dal Lake to remote high-altitude glacial basins. It includes the sacred waters of Gangabal and Sheeshnag, essential sites for local pilgrimage, alongside the Ramsar-protected wetlands of Mansar and Surinsar. Many of these lakes, such as Vishansar and Tarsar, are situated above 3,500 meters and serve as primary landmarks along the region's seasonal alpine trekking routes.

Manasbal Lake

Manasbal Lake is located in Safapora area of Ganderbal District in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India.

Chitta Katha Lake

A high-altitude alpine lake in the Shounter Valley, situated at 3,962 meters. It is fed by the glaciers of Mount Hari Parbat.

Ratti Gali Lake

A high-altitude alpine lake located within the Pir Panjal mountain range.

Damam Sar

An alpine lake situated in the Pir Panjal range, accessible through seasonal trekking routes.

Bodh Sar

A high-altitude glacial lake located in the mountain ranges of the Ganderbal district.

Kantar Nag

An alpine lake located in the Pir Panjal range near the border of the Baramulla and Poonch districts.

Vishansar

Known as the 'Lake of Vishnu,' this glacial alpine lake near Sonamarg sits at 3,710 meters. It is one of the sources of the Neelum River.

Krishansar

An alpine lake located at 3,801 meters, adjacent to Vishansar Lake. It is known for its brown trout population and is surrounded by rugged Himalayan peaks.
