This collection highlights the diverse freshwater environments of Bohuslän, ranging from the secluded forest lakes of the Svartedalen nature reserve to the coastal wetlands near Tanum. Svartedalen is one of Western Sweden's largest coniferous forest areas, characterized by its rugged, hilly terrain and oligotrophic lakes like Stora Måkevattnet and Långevatten. Further north, the coastal mires such as Komyren and Långemyr provide essential habitats for specialized peatland flora and birdlife within the region's distinctive granite landscape.
