Tallinn's Medieval Treasures

Tallinn’s UNESCO-listed Old Town preserves one of Europe’s best-maintained Hanseatic city centers. The area features the 13th-century Toompea Castle and Northern Europe’s only intact Gothic town hall. Medieval defensive walls and towers still encircle the cobblestone streets, including Pikk Street and the artisan-filled St. Catherine’s Passage. At the heart of the district lies the Town Hall Square, which has served as a marketplace and social hub since the Middle Ages.
