This street is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Tokyo. Prices of rents here, especially around the intersection of Chuo and Marronnier streets, have been pushed up by many high-end designer brands such as Louis Vuitton setting up their stores here.
Chuo is also the main street of the Akihabara district. In addition to a fashion heaven, it is also a mecca for gamers and anime fans. If you feel the need to buy electronics, this is the spot.
The best time to visit the street is on weekend afternoons when the 1.1-kilometer-long central street is closed to traffic and becomes a large pedestrian zone. During these events, called the Pedestrian's Paradise, the streets are also filled with various musicians and performers, giving the entire Chuo a lively and festive atmosphere.
