District d'Alay

Alay Essentials

The Alay region serves as the primary gateway to the Pamir Mountains, defined by the high-altitude Alay Valley and the Trans-Alay Range. This selection features key points along the M41 Pamir Highway, including the Taldyk and Chyiyrchyk passes. It highlights the mountaineering hub of Peak Lenin and its glaciers, the nomadic heritage preserved in local yurt camps and the Gulcha history museum, and the strategic Irkeschtam border crossing into China.
