Braga's Sacred Heritage

Known as the 'Rome of Portugal,' Braga contains a dense concentration of religious landmarks reflecting centuries of architectural evolution. This collection spans from the 7th-century pre-Romanesque Chapel of São Frutuoso to the monumental Sé Catedral, the oldest in the country. Visitors can observe the transition from Gothic and Manueline styles to the ornate Baroque facades of the Igreja dos Congregados and the Neoclassical lines of Pópulo Church, many of which are classified as national monuments.
