El Chaltén, Argentina's trekking capital, features a network of trails leading to vantage points over the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. These viewpoints offer direct lines of sight to the granite spires of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, the meandering Río de las Vueltas, and the vast Viedma Lake. Most trails originate directly from the village, ranging from short 20-minute climbs to several-hour treks through beech forests and glacial moraines.

Mirador Las Águilas

Panoramic views over Lake Viedma and the Patagonian steppe. The trail branches off from the Los Cóndores path and takes approximately 45 minutes from the National Park visitor center.

Mirador Cerro Torre

Located along the trail to Laguna Torre, this point provides the first clear view of the Adela range and the granite needle of Cerro Torre.

Mirador Cascada Margarita

Overlooks the Margarita waterfall across the Fitz Roy River valley, with views of the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre massifs in the background.

Mirador Río de las Vueltas

Elevated vantage point overlooking the serpentine curves of the Río de las Vueltas as it flows toward Lake Viedma. Accessible via a short hike north of the town.

Mirador De Los Cóndores

The closest viewpoint to El Chaltén village, offering a 360-degree panorama of the town, the Fitz Roy massif, and the Las Vueltas valley. Named for frequent Andean condor sightings.

Dos Condores

Elevated viewpoint providing perspectives of the surrounding granite peaks and the valley floor.

Upper Mirador (De Los Cóndores)

A higher extension of the primary Los Cóndores trail, providing a more elevated perspective of the Fitz Roy range and the village below.

Mirador El Paredón

Viewpoint overlooking the valley and the vertical rock walls near the town. Often used for birdwatching and observing local geological formations.
