Historical Monuments

A Monumento a Canapone
1846 marble sculpture by Luigi Magi depicting Grand Duke Leopold II of Tuscany. Located in Piazza Dante, it commemorates the sovereign's efforts in draining the Maremma marshes.
B Area Archeologica di Roselle
Ancient city featuring Etruscan walls, a Roman forum, and a small amphitheater. It preserves layers of history from the 7th century BC through the Middle Ages.
C Bastione Mulino a Vento
One of six bastions in the 16th-century Medici walls. Historically known as the "Casone" bastion, it served as a defensive point on the southwestern corner of the city.
D Bastione Cavallerizza
A 16th-century defensive structure forming part of the city's hexagonal walls. It features a large open space once used for equestrian training and military drills.

Torre di Collelungo
A 16th-century coastal watchtower situated on a rocky promontory within the Maremma Regional Park, built to defend against pirate incursions.

H Monumento ad Andrea da Grosseto
Modern bronze sculpture dedicated to the 13th-century scholar credited with translating Albertano of Brescia's moral treatises into the Italian vernacular.
I Pozzo della Fortezza
An ornate 16th-century octagonal cistern-well located in the main square of the Bastione Fortezza, designed to provide water to the garrison.
Torre della Trappola
A medieval fortification and salt warehouse located in the marshy wetlands near the mouth of the Ombrone River.
Abbazia di San Rabano
Ruins of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery in the Uccellina Mountains. The site includes a Romanesque church and a tall defensive tower.
