Kobarid balances its somber military history with the natural beauty of the Soča Valley. Majestic Mountains and Peaks

This collection features the prominent summits and ridges surrounding Kobarid in the Julian Alps and Prealps. Highlights include Krn, the highest peak in its range, and Batognica, which retains visible fortifications and mine craters from World War I. The Stol ridge offers the longest continuous crest in the region, while the Kolovrat ridge serves as a transborder natural balcony overlooking the Soča Valley and the Friuli plane. These peaks are defined by their karst topography and significant historical role in the Isonzo Front.

Slovenia's Natural Marvels
