Lakes and Reservoirs
Neuquén’s landscape is defined by the contrast between deep glacial lakes in the Andean west and massive hydroelectric reservoirs on the Limay and Neuquén Rivers. Glacial waters like Lake Huechulafquen sit at the base of the Lanín Volcano, while Lake Traful is known for its unique submerged forest. To the east, the Piedra del Águila and Arroyito dams form expansive reservoirs that regulate the region's river systems and support significant biodiversity within the Patagonian steppe.
