Quito Heritage Sites

Quito’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, preserves one of the best-preserved colonial layouts in South America. This collection spans from the pre-Inca archaeological ruins of Quitoloma and Catequilla to the grand Spanish colonial architecture of the 16th and 17th centuries. Highlights include the Neo-Gothic Basilica of the National Vow, the Baroque interiors of the Church of San Francisco, and the presidential Carondelet Palace. The list also features the Mitad del Mundo monument, marking the equatorial line.
