Volcanic Peaks & Craters

Timanfaya National Park’s landscape was primarily shaped by the cataclysmic eruptions of 1730–1736, which covered a third of Lanzarote in basalt and ash. This collection features the most prominent cinder cones and calderas within the park’s boundaries. These geological formations, including the deep crater of Caldera del Corazoncillo and the jagged silhouette of Pico Partido, illustrate the island's volcanic evolution and ongoing geothermal activity.

Caldera del Corazoncillo

One of the deepest and most perfectly formed craters in the park, created during the early stages of the 1730 eruptions.

Pico Partido

Distinctive "split" volcano known for its broken crater wall, which exposes the internal geological layers of the cone.
