Yvoire's Medieval Charms

Perched on the southern shore of Lake Geneva, Yvoire is a fortified medieval village dating back to the early 14th century. Its strategic location led to the construction of defensive ramparts, two massive stone gates, and a prominent fortress built by Amadeus V of Savoy. Key features include the Jardin des Cinq Sens, a sensory labyrinth on the site of the former castle kitchen garden, and the church of Saint-Pancrace with its distinctive stainless steel-covered onion dome.

Yvoire

Yvoire is a small medieval town in the department of Haute-Savoie, in the southeastern French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

Château d'Yvoire

A 14th-century fortress built by Amadeus V of Savoy to control navigation on Lake Geneva. While the interior remains a private residence, its massive square tower and crenelated walls are landmark examples of medieval military architecture.

Église Saint-Pancrace
