Designed by architect Luka Zaușchevici and completed in 1841, this neoclassical monument was built to commemorate the Russian army's victory over Ottoman forces in the Russo-Turkish War. Standing 13 meters tall, the structure features Corinthian-style pillars and is often cited as one of the five most beautiful triumphal arches in the world.
The arch houses a mechanical clock and a 6.4-ton bell cast from captured Turkish cannons. It serves as a bell tower for the nearby Cathedral of Christ's Nativity and acts as a symbolic gate to the Cathedral Square.
The monument is a central element of an architectural ensemble that includes the Great National Assembly Square and Cathedral Park. It stands as a prominent historical landmark positioned directly opposite the cathedral.
