Alghero's Absolute Essentials

Alghero showcases a distinct Catalan influence reflected in the Gothic architecture of the Cathedral of St. Mary and the surrounding medieval walls. The landscape features the dramatic limestone cliffs of Capo Caccia and the stalactite-filled Neptune’s Grotto. Prehistoric history is preserved at the Palmavera Nuragic complex and the Anghelu Ruju necropolis, home to 38 rock-cut tombs. Castles and Towers

Alghero’s coastline and historic center are defined by a network of defensive towers and fortifications dating primarily from the 14th to the 18th centuries.
