Atacama Region Essentials

The Atacama Region features the highest volcano on Earth, Nevado Ojos del Salado, and the high-altitude lagoons of Nevado Tres Cruces National Park. Along the coast, Pan de Azúcar National Park preserves desert flora and Humboldt penguin colonies. The region’s mining heritage is documented at the San José Mine rescue site and the 19th-century ruins of Juan Godoy.
