Historic Monuments of Évora

Aqueduto da Água de Prata

Completed in 1537 by architect Francisco de Arruda, this 18-kilometer Renaissance aqueduct supplied fresh water to the city. Its massive arches are uniquely integrated into the urban landscape, with houses and shops built directly into the structure in several sections.
