Historic Churches and Chapels

Fuerteventura’s religious heritage spans from 15th-century Gothic foundations to small coastal hermitages. These sites showcase a blend of architectural styles, including Mudéjar-influenced ceilings, Baroque altarpieces, and unique stone carvings. Many structures, such as the Church of St. Mary in Betancuria, were rebuilt following 16th-century pirate raids. This collection highlights the island's most significant cultural landmarks, including the sanctuary of the patron saint in Vega de Río Palmas and the Aztec-inspired portal in Pájara.
