Religious Heritage
Ganja's religious landscape reflects its history as a cultural crossroads. The 17th-century Juma Mosque, commissioned by Shah Abbas, serves as a landmark of Shia Islamic architecture with its characteristic red brickwork. The city's Christian heritage is represented by the 1887 Russian Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Church, a 19th-century Lutheran church built for German settlers, and the Armenian Surb Grigor Lusavorich Church. These sites collectively illustrate the historical coexistence of various faiths in Azerbaijan's second-largest city.
