Historical Sites and Memorials
Kobarid’s landscape is defined by its role in World War I and the Isonzo Front. This collection features the Italian Charnel House, which holds the remains of over 7,000 soldiers, and Napoleon’s Bridge, a stone arch spanning the Soča River. The outdoor museum at Zaprikraj preserves trenches and caverns from the first line of Italian defense. Other sites include high-altitude mountain memorials and Austro-Hungarian fortifications that offer insight into the region's military heritage and 20th-century conflicts.
