Komárno Fortification System

The Komárno-Komárom fortification system is a massive 19th-century military complex spanning the Danube between Slovakia and Hungary. Built to protect the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it features the Old and New Fortresses alongside the extensive Palatine and Vaag defensive lines. This network of brick bastions, moats, and stone forts represents the largest fortification system in Central Europe, designed to accommodate up to 200,000 soldiers and withstand prolonged sieges.
