Scenic Viewpoints

This collection highlights Mae Hong Son's most significant overlooks, ranging from the high-altitude Doi Kiew Lom on Route 1095 to the river confluence at the Myanmar border. Many locations, such as Hyun Lai and Ban Ja Bo, are situated within ethnic minority villages and are renowned for the 'sea of mist' phenomenon occurring at dawn. The list includes both accessible roadside stops and remote mountain peaks offering perspectives of the Daen Lao Range and the Salween River valley.

Hyun Lai View Point (Yum Lai Viewpoint)

Located above the Yunnanese Santichon Village, this site offers sunrise views over the Pai Valley. It is known for its early morning sea of mist and traditional tea service at the summit.

Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint

A high-altitude stop on the highway between Pai and Mae Hong Son, reaching 1,431 meters. It provides panoramic views of the Daen Lao Range and the rugged limestone landscape.

Ban Ja Bo

A Lahu hill tribe village famous for its wooden noodle shop built over a cliff. The overlook provides views of limestone karsts and dense morning fog in the valley below.

Pha Bong Viewpoint

Located 12 kilometers from Mae Hong Son town, this roadside viewpoint overlooks the Mae Ramao River valley, rice paddies, and the surrounding mountain ranges.

Phang Ma Pha Viewpoint

A rest area on Route 1095 providing expansive views of the Pang Mapha district's limestone mountain formations and deep valleys.

Doi Mieng

Reaching over 1,500 meters, this peak offers a 360-degree view of Pai and the surrounding mountains. Access typically requires a 4WD vehicle due to steep terrain.
